DO I NEED AN IMPLANT?
If you’ve already lost one or more teeth the impact can be devastating.
Nobody likes the idea that their smile is incomplete, and in order to eat, speak, and feel like smiling, a complete smile is needed. In the past, the only solutions for tooth loss were bridges or dentures that would anchor to other teeth in your mouth, or to your gums. Neither of these solutions could actually replace teeth in a way that felt natural, and they’d limit what you could eat, and long-term, those solutions could lead to other problems – additional tooth loss, pain, and deterioration of the bone that defines the very structure and character of your face.
We can provide a better solution to the problem of tooth loss: dental implants, or an implant-affixed bridge. Whether you receive one, several, or an entire arch affixed by implants, the result will be true replacements for your own teeth that let you eat what you want, smile, laugh, and speak naturally. When you get your new teeth from Dr. Cheek-Covey, no one will even know that they aren’t your natural teeth, unless you tell them!

WHAT IS AN IMPLANT?
How do implants replace a missing tooth?
A dental implant is a permanent, artificial tooth that replaces a tooth that is missing or is used to hold a fixed denture or bridge in place. A single implant tooth has three parts:
- A crown, usually made from high-grade ceramic, is built around the abutment and looks and feels like a natural tooth.
- An abutment or connector, also made from the same material as the implant, is placed on top of the post above the bone.
- A post, made from titanium or zirconia, is placed into the jaw bone to simulate a tooth root.
BENEFITS OF IMPLANTS
Protect your overall health and self-esteem by replacing missing teeth.
Dr. Cheek-Covey knows it’s important for both your health and self-esteem to replace missing teeth because the mouth is a system and unreplaced teeth can cause other teeth to be stressed, lost, or become crowded. A lost tooth adversely affects your appearance, and you may feel self-conscious about smiling or talking.
More than 30 years ago, dental implants became a solution to replace a missing tooth. With today’s technology, implants are better, faster, and safer than ever before. While there are other less costly options, correctly-placed dental implants are a superior replacement.
Dental implants look and feel like natural teeth. Even the best dental bridges and dentures cannot compare to the look and feel of a properly placed dental implant. If you’re looking for the best possible appearance, function, and feel for your missing tooth, look no further. Request an implant consultation now.
